The Faroe Islands, a place magically beautiful and newly popular thanks to Instagram. Tourism is a new concept, and the locals are somewhat divided- but Faroese hospitality remains strong, and several locals invite us into their homes for dinner.

Ria, the extrovert- took to meeting friends the traditional way- on an airplane. Sigga, Sölvi and Shakeel host guests from all over the world at their home-based supper club. It's a unique way to meet other travelers and hear about daily life in the Faroe Islands.

Myself- the introvert- took to meeting people the introvert way… on Instagram. Hanusarstova is based on the idea of home hospitality- not only inviting people into the home and giving them a meal, but also offering stories, traditions, and an insight into a different way of life.

 “By opening our hearts and our homes to people all over the world, we show them what basic farming and small village life is like.” We started with Faroese tapas- fermented and dried meats, halibut salad with fish caught by Harriet’s father, and homemade rhubarb jam with bread.
