World Nomads Create Scholarships Photography 2019 Applications The Call Of Auzangate The call of Auzangate by Giorgia Piotti Hlebanja (Brazil) Peru Shares Facebook Twitter The one in the picture is my love. Before we were together he dreamed of me on this mountain on another trip. At the moment of the photo we married. This is snowy Auzangate. It is a peak of the Vilcanota mountain range, sub-ridge of the Andes, located in the Cusco region of Peru. Reaches 6384 m asl. This is Juan, our guide. He was born on this mountain and never left it, not even to Machupicchu. Knows this region as if he were a gps, guided us even during a blizzard that couldn't see anything. In the picture he is eating coca leaf, which is very sacred to him and his people. I'm crazy about horses. I feel a very strong connection with them. We slept one night in this wonderful spot during the Auzangate crossing and at the moment I registered the horses that guided us in perfect harmony with the mountains. I wish I could be in a horse-loving culture like the Mongols. This is her garden. Plants do not grow easily over there. They basically eat llama and heat their food with dry llama poop because there is no firewood. She smiles anyway. She carries her culture on her back, in the colors of her clothes and on her smile. They are a joyful people. Just looking at the picture, a loving feeling comes in me, imagine them at live? They said the colored ear is to signal that they are male. These llamas were helping a group of hikers to carry their things. I could spend hours observing every detail and movement of these animals.
