In short, recreational skiing or snowboarding at resorts is covered. You are covered for skiing & snowboarding in the areas designated 'safe' by ski resort staff within the designated areas of a ski resort's boundaries.

So what does safe mean?

Ski resorts often held liable for all winter sports activities within their boundaries and as such ... take time to make sure the pistes are groomed, the instructors are competent and that any dangerous conditions like heavy snow, ice, and avalanche risks are properly managed.

World Nomads cover does include on-piste snowboarding and skiing, off piste, Terrain Park and skiing and snowboarding provided it is not done in restricted or unsafe areas.

It is very difficult to gauge the risk of injury outside of ski resorts and therefore our underwriters can't easily offer.

You are covered for emergency medical treatment undertaken by qualified resort staff and any air evacuation or road ambulance transport that is required subject to the Emergency Assistance team being contacted and approval given.

Your equipment will also be covered while in official resort storage where a check in is required but is not covered if it is left anywhere where the general public have constant access or where items can be taken without your knowledge, including ski racks (secured or not) or in resort lockers in public areas.

You are not covered where you are:

  1. Wilfully exposing yourself to a needless risk like cliff drops or taking on the double black diamond run after your first ever day on the slopes.
  2. Intoxicated or have taken illegal drugs where your ability and decision making is probably compromised.
  3. Out of the bounds of the ski resort.
  4. extreme skiing or snowboarding.
