National Park Ranger
John has lived inside America's National Parks for a decade, where he's logged over 150 hiking and kayaking trips. When he took off the ranger uniform, he donned his guiding gear and paddled about 4,000 miles leading expedition sea kayak trips in Southeast Alaska.
Since then he's enjoyed many years of leading groups on tours of North America's most interesting and captivating monuments to history and nature. He now works as a custom trip specialist, helping small groups and families with adventurous travel.
We asked a local guide, John Baston, to share his tips on the best things to see and do in Alaska’s Inside Passage.
