Meet Maike van der Heide

Born Dutch and raised Kiwi, Maike is a freelance journalist, writer, editor, copywriter and many other word-related things.
She spent her childhood holidays being carted around New Zealand at slow speed in a bus converted to campervan which, despite a great deal of car sickness, still seeded a love of road trips. As a result, there are few places in New Zealand Maike hasn’t yet seen - and she feels pretty great about that.
Maike has lived on both the North and South Islands, and she once visited Stewart Island just long enough to know she absolutely must return. She’s also travelled to a few places around the world, with many more to go.
Now ensconced among the grapevines of Marlborough, Maike’s keen to take to hit the road again with her partner and two children, hopefully very soon.
