President of the Global Penguin Society
Dr. Borboroglu is the founder and President of the Global Penguin Society, an international science-based conservation coalition dedicated to the survival and protection of the world´s penguin species. He has spent 25 years in the field of marine conservation, and his research focuses on different ecological aspects of seabird conservation. Currently, he is leading a global conservation effort to benefit penguins in several countries at different scales, including the creation of the IUCN Penguin Specialist Group, the improvement of colony management, and the creation of large protected areas both on land and in the ocean. For his work, he was named the 2018 winner of the prestigious gold award from the Whitley Fund for Nature.
Dr. Borboroglu studied biological sciences at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco and received his Ph.D. in biology from the National University of Comahue in Argentina.
