Shafik is an award-winning travel writer, journalist, and co-author of more than 35 guidebooks to destinations in Latin America, Asia, Australasia, North Africa, and Europe. He writes for publications around the world including BBC Travel, Time Out, and Adventure.com, and talks about travel on TV, radio, and podcasts. Shafik is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a trustee of the Latin America Bureau.
