Siska Nirmala is an Indonesian journalist based in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. She's also an adventure enthusiast who enjoys backpacking, hiking and climbing.
Her anxiety about the trash problem in Indonesia inspired her to adopt a zero waste lifestyle in 2012. She also made an individual expedition called Ekspedisi Nol Sampah (Zero Waste Expedition) to five mountains in Indonesia (2013-2015), which she then wrote a book about, Zero Waste Adventure, published in May 2017.
It’s no lie Indonesia has a huge issue with waste management. But how did the situation become so bad? Siska Nirmala made the switch to a zero-waste lifestyle, and now she’s determined to make sure travelers and locals choose sustainable methods, too.
