Meet Rebecca Day

Programs Specialist

I’ve been working for World Nomads since the end of 2017. I manage the Travel Scholarships Program and also help out with the Footprints Network. I am endlessly inspired by the talent that’s out there in the community and find it’s an incredibly rewarding job giving creative travelers the opportunity to follow their passion.

Growing up in Sydney I always had an itch to travel and see more of the world. University gave me my first taste of living overseas when I got to study in wine country in Rioja, Spain and I did a subject on wine tasting. No joke. Which might be the reason my Spanish becomes infinitely better after a glass or two of red.

After uni, I realized there was still so much of the world to see so I packed up my bags for a one-month (which stretched out to a six-month) trip around Central and South America. On my travels I rode with chickens on a chicken bus, worked in the bar of a hostel in Guatemala and accepted more Facebook friend requests than I’ll ever need. Arriving back in Sydney, I knew that travel and that sense of adventure would always be in my blood and I count myself very lucky to find myself amoung a group of people who feel the same.
