Upcoming Content Needs

World Nomads are looking for experienced travel writers for our Explore, Travel Safety, Learn, and Responsible Travel sections.

We currently aren't seeking unsolicited pitches for any new content. Please watch TravMedia for our calls for submission.

World Nomads is a travel insurer and adventurous lifestyle brand. We don’t write about restaurants or hotel reviews – we talk about experiences and making connections with local people and culture. We want to ignite a sense of curiosity about travel in our readers.

We're looking for professional travel writers who have a unique story to tell.

When you send us a pitch, tell us where you went, what you did, what you learned, and what is different about what you’re suggesting. Please bear in mind we are only looking for pitches related to the destinations we're planning to feature.

Explore articles are written in the first person, from your perspective. We don't want listicles  we want to go deeper than that. We're looking for areas of the destination that are less well-trodden, and provide a unique and authentic aspect of the place – not the 'Top 5 Places to Go in X'. We want you to take us on a journey with you, weaving in details of your trip and the place. We're looking for a sense that you've thoroughly explored the destination, found some real hidden gems, or really tried to understand the culture.

If you're sending a pitch for our Travel Safety, Responsible Travel, or Learn sections, describe your expertise on the destination or topic.

If your pitch ignites our curiosity, we'll be in touch.

Payment: AUD $0.70 per word. Payment for photos will be discussed separately.

Deadlines: See each individual brief for dates.

Tips for successful applicants

  • We're looking for professional travel writers, not budding bloggers. Please attach examples of your work written in the first person.
  • When getting in touch initially, do not send a completed article to us. Send us a simple pitch outlining your idea and why it's unique.
  • The final article will be written in US English, using a first-person narrative style, with a present/active tense. Trip notes will be required for Explore articles, offering additional information to help readers plan their own trip.
  • A formal brief will be emailed through to you upon acceptance to write for World Nomads.
  • Read our Responsible Travel manifesto and Editorial Style Guide. Get to know World Nomads before you write for us – become familiar with our guides and read our content.
