I convinced my husband Shawn to visit Iceland with me again because the last time we were there we only had three days and my photography skills were not good enough to capture the beauty of the country's rugged nature. Thankfully Shawn is a very patient man, even though he frequently expresses his concern about the time we're losing when I photograph a single scene for too long.

The wild, sturdy and small stature of Icelandic horses fascinates me. The setting sun and the cliffs of the Black Sand Beach in Vik allowed for a great composition.

While driving along the Ring Road I asked Shawn to pull over because I had noticed the little waterfall right underneath a bridge. This spectacular view with the mountains in the background would have never caught my eye if the sun hasn't been peeking through the clouds.

I must admit, this was my favorite place during the whole trip. I love how Shawn appears as a little figure on this huge bridge above a roaring waterfall that flows into a deep canyon. My only regret is that I'm not with him in this picture.

Seeing the Northern Lights has been one of my life-long dreams. I have been to Iceland twice. I have braved rain and wind and snow for many nights, hoping the clouds would break up for just a few minutes, but they Aurora Borealis never appeared to me with high activity, always just as a faint glow on the horizon. One day they will, I know it, even if I have to try a hundred times.
