In the foothills of the Indian Himalayas you will find the remote city of Leh. This region used to be the seat of the ancient Buddhist kings, now it is a gateway for travellers to the Himalayas.

We met with Guru Ji, overseer of the region and a close follower of the Dalai Lama. He expressed his fear for western children, how we grow being to be taught to be competitive and not taught to seek happiness.

The winds where howling through the mountains. On our way to Pangong Tso we passed Chang La, the second highest motorable pass in the world, it is advised not to spend longer than 20 minutes here because of such extreme alititude (17585ft)

Finally reaching Pangong was such a relief, we didn't care that the weather was hiding the magnificent blue the lake is famous for, we were grateful that the 7 hour bone shaking drive was over. The land seemed barren but inviting, the forms of the mountains where hypnotic as the light fighting through the clouds danced over them.

We spent the night camping on a locals farm land next to the lake. I had wanted to capture her portrait focussing on showing her in her space, with her property. As the Guru has highlighted to us earlier; there are different perspectives for success, for some this everything they have, but they are very happier than we are.
