Pehalwans getting trained in the wrestling training institutes of Kolhapur, India.. They join when they are 10 or 15 years and retire around 33 years.It takes minimum of 7 years to shape in to a good wrestler.

They have 2 training sessions everyday. 3 pairs of wrestlers get on the mud to practice at the same time while the rest of them engage in work outs. They take turns to get on the mud

Its mandatory for wrestlers to stay in-house and cook themselves. One single room serves as living room, kitchen, bedroom for all the wrestlers with not even basic facilities.Their diet is very healthy and restricted and costs around 15000 rs every month.

The mud is mixed with turmeric, milk , ghee, oil and kumkum so that it acts as a cooling agent for their body. People apply this mud on their body during the training session(and after the training session also) so that their body will not be slippery and they can hold their opponents easily
