Starboard side of the S.V. Linden, on the outskirts of Bodø, Northern Norway. For close to 3 months the Linden and its crew were my home, work, friends and family.

The Linden is a replica of a 100 year old vessel, and is the largest wooden Schooner in Europe. The young crew were mostly untrained and learnt to sail whilst on the voyage.

The ultimate destination of the Linden was the Svalbard Archipelago in the Arctic Circle. After several years as a floating restaurant in Finland, this was the maiden voyage after a major re-haul.

Long days and nights were made easier under a midnight sun. Sailing north from Denmark, the term 'nightshift' became less meaningful the further the voyage went.

Whilst at sea, the crew operated a 6 hour on shift, 6 hour off shift rotation. The demands of sailing were brutal at points, especially in the extreme climate.
