"Vesak Festival" is the most important and sacred festival for Buddhists in Sri Lanka. People here will mostly wear white during this time of the year( a week around April-May ) to show respect. This is the Colorful Buddhist Flag-Wrapping Ceremony at "Ruwanwelisaya Stupa". After holding the cloth with care, the monks will wrap it around the Stupa's base.People are praying around a sacred fig tree called "Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi". Afterwards they would walk around it 3 times and water the sacred tree with respect."Sigiriya" (ancient rock fortress) was very crowded on that day. There was a lady resting nearby the stairs to go up, wearing traditional clothes. At the end of the day we lit the candle and praying with the others at "Abhayagiri Vihara", a major monastery site.
