If you are still in two minds whether you should visit Egypt or not. I will advise you not to hesitate. According to Gallup Law and Order (2019), Egypt was ranked as the eighth safest country in the world, also coming in second place among the safest Arab countries. I visited 3 cities in Egypt including Sharm El-Sheikh, Cairo and Giza in December 2019. Those cities are really different from each other, which makes Egypt interesting. Here are some awesome activities that I did in Egypt. And you should not miss those if you have a plan to visit this beautiful country. SHARM EL-SHEIKH CITY Sharm El-Sheikh is a very beautiful and clean city. You will be as astonished as I was upon seeing no trash in the streets but palms and spectacular deserts. There are a lot of cool activities to do at Sharm El-Sheikh. Make sure that you spend enough time staying here and you will definitely enjoy it. – Riding quads in the desert safari Riding a quad is quite similar to riding a motorcycle but it is much more difficult especially when you ride it in the desert. The road is not flat but don’t worry, there will be a guide who can make sure that you are safe. If you intend to ride a quad and wait for the sunrise, make sure that you have a coat along with yourself as the weather can be very cold before the sunrise. – Riding camels Camels are very popular in Egypt. You can easily try them in Egypt regardless of locations. I rode camels several times in Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab and Giza. Camels are much higher than horses, so be careful when they stand up or sit down. – Snorkelling or diving at the Red Sea The Red Sea is crystal clear. Therefore, snorkelling and diving are among the top activities you should do when coming to Egypt. You can either snorkel at the beach at your resort in Sharm El-Sheikh or travel to the Blue Hole (around 8km from Dahab). The Blue Hole is 100-km deep and it is full of different corals and sea creatures. If you want to dive, make sure you have a diving certificate in advance. It takes one week to attend the training and get certified. In addition, remember to be well-equipped when you go under the water as coral reefs can hurt you if you are not careful. – Drinking Egyptian tea at the Coloured Canyon What is more awesome than climbing up high, seeing the view of the canyon and tasting delicious tea when climbing down. Visit the Coloured Canyon in Dahab Town (around 80km far from Sharm El-Sheikh) before the sunset and you will see the sky with beautiful colours. CAIRO Cairo is the capital of Egypt. Unlike Sharm El-Sheikh, Cairo is far busier and noisier. It is considered as a never-sleep city. Traffic jam happens as a normal thing in Cairo. In Cairo, you should visit local markets to buy some souvenirs and eat local dishes such as koshari and falafel. Khan Khalili Bazaar is an old big market selling a lot of stuff including clothes, souvenirs and shisha tubes. And everything you need to do is to bargain for the things that you are going to buy. I noticed that bargaining at the market was very popular in Egypt. GIZA If you are going to Egypt, the Great Pyramid at Giza is the must-visit place. One advice is that you should check out for the weather before going there so that you can have a great experience without any weather barrier. There are 3 big pyramids at Giza. The biggest and oldest one is named as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops. The other twos are the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure. In addition, the Great Sphinx is just around this area. It was carved with limestone, representing a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. So there are pretty many activities you can do in Egypt. I hope that you will have a great time there as I did.
