This is a very simple story. A love story. Between a guy and a girl. Not too exciting right? Wrong. It happened on my trip to Colombia and it was totally out of the blue, so I think it's GREAT. I had only one more day in Salento, meaning not enough time for an overnight hike and too much to wander around the town, so a mountain bike excursion for 4 hours seemed perfect. Halfway through our ride we sat down in the meadows to have a snack and relax. In the opposite side of the blanket I spot this pale, blond hair, dreamy blue eyes, looking-like-a-prince guy. Not my type AT ALL, but as I was drinking my "mate" you began to ask questions about it to understand what it was. Not gonna lie. Your chill and peaceful vibe were very attractive. Before I knew it that same night we were walking together to a hamburger place. For a split second I got worried because as we haven't talk that much I didn't know if we could make it through an entire dinner. Boy, was I wrong. We were having so much fun I didn't even tried to reach my phone! Staring right directly into each other’s eyes as the lights in the bar went down, you said you were leaving for a 3 day hike the next morning. Bummer news. And then it was already time to go. We stepped outside, walked one block and as I was thinking how to say goodbye, you hug me. But the hug was so sudden that it was over before it started. The night was completely dark, not even stars where shining and suddenly I found myself alone in the middle of two streets because your essence evaporated faster than I could notice. Your sweet and transparent look that had been resting in my eyes until a couple of minutes earlier was no longer with me. I had nothing else to do than to walk back to the hostel by myself and a bit confused. Unexpectedly, you appeared back again through a phone message saying you wish the night had lasted a little longer. My heart smiled; it wasn't all a product of my imagination. Time went by, I was just arriving to Medellin when you texted saying you were going to Guatape the next day and like it was the most natural thing in the world I asked if I could come along with you. Who am I at this point? You said yes and so our love story was officially beginning. I could go on and on describing how amazing it felt when you first held my hand while walking or how hot you looked when you crawled into my top cube bed in your undies, not even caring what my neighbor below could think. I can also tell how lucky I felt to be in such a magical place with someone to share memories with, describe how safe you made me feel when we got lost in the kayak and how caring you were the last night when you asked me about some personal struggles I was going through. But I can also tell how jealous I felt when we went out and I saw you flirting with other girls, how long it took you to respond to my messages over the phone, how few songs you danced with me the last night together and how you kept avoiding me by going to the other side of the dance floor. So we reach the end of the story. This beautiful love story that lasted only 9 days, were we met, flirted, fell in love, had a honeymoon, our couple matured, became friends and part away. How amazing is that? More so considering I haven’t been involved with anyone in 4 years just because I can’t seem to find someone that I have such a good connection with. So, to even think of finding it in a MB excursion someone from another continent is crazy. Cra-zy And yet, this is a normal backpacking european boy and a typical passional latina girl who just happened to like each other.
