Her eyes gently pressed shut, she took a deep breath and exhaled. Letting the rhythmic lull of the boat relax her and let her mind slowly drift away from her day to day thoughts. From welcoming passengers on his boat to show them the enchanting flora and fauna and the inhabitants unique to the region. There was no one there but him and her. And they embarked on the journey in silence. Only a few words exchanged in the beginning. The sun bore heavy, it burned her skin but that didn’t bother her. She had craved the heat after spending years in the cold. The softest of breezes blew from time to time and that cooled her down. In the distance, she heard someone shout. She turned to where the sound came from. They were far enough from land but the strong and powerful voice projected all the way to them. Dawit told her that there were more passengers who were going to join the tour so they turned back in the direction of land. In her own thoughts, she welcomed the change of events. But she didn’t want to drift from the moment. From the beauty that enveloped her existence right now – the palm trees that swayed as if they were dancing to the music of the waves, the colours so vivid that they didn’t seem real.
