14:20 - I looked at my phone to see the time I spent wandering in the Nagoya train station trying to find the bus terminal. The only way I have gotten to the bus terminal was to stop in between, breathe, calm myself down and carefully follow the signs.Otherwise I had been walking in all directions, from the gold clock to JR Tokaido line and the same way back to the gold clock.I did see a tourist information center somewhere in between but I would rather not have any human interaction possible until it becomes necessary to ask someone to find the right direction. So I comfortably ignored and passed the center like it hadn't been there at all. I was happy that we were only a few people in the bus and for a Thursday, I predicted smaller crowds.Bummer...within the next 10 minutes, most seats were occupied.A couple just settled in the two seats leaving the one next to me.There was something cool and familiar about this couple. I could not decide if it was the man’s floral shirt or the woman’s hat..now that i am thinking, I guess it was their smile.I shifted my focus to the Nagoya sightseeing route handout in my hand. Visiting the best place that is magically beautiful in some way was my goal.Given that I had only one day to explore the city after my two day work trip, the pressure was real. "Noritake Garden, Nagoya castle and TV tower look fascinating.Maybe I should visit one of these places or all three if possible.I am in JAPAN!!” I read a lot about the Japanese culture, desserts and its people, Japan has been on my radar for a long time. And I was grateful to have a day for myself, however, I got hit with major FOMO causing me constant anxiety whether or not I would be able to choose the perfect place. Amidst all my chaotic thoughts, I heard a voice. “Are you a student?” The same man beside me asked with a warm smile. I looked at him, smiled sheepishly and answered.“No, not a student and I am here for my work. I am flying back home tomorrow and today is the day I have to explore the city.” The couple started speaking in Japanese and fell silent for a few moments. “My wife cannot speak English, but she understands a little bit. We are going to the castle if you want, can come with us.Do you speak Japanese?” I replied.“That's sweet, thank you.But I am not sure where to go.And I cannot understand any Japanese.” **sheepish smiles exchange for a few seconds** I wasn't going to join them as I wanted to spend the time alone walking around and exploring the TV tower area.Or I was just trying to avoid human interaction.Social interactions have never been easy for me. I noticed the couple were getting ready to get off the bus and were having a little chit-chat pointing at something outside the window while we were passing the Shikemichi district.I felt the hot dry air that came in when the doors opened at Nagoya castle. It was 46°C outside. Another situation to tackle. Scorching hot and I wasn’t prepared. I grabbed my bag-pack, ran through the door to get off the bus and followed the couple. They were happy to see me as I had hoped. We quickly bought the entrance tickets and went inside the castle. He told me it was disrespectful to click pictures inside the castle, hence I never took my phone out and tried to click. We saw beautifully painted walls, gold ceilings and magnificent cooking areas. “Japan is like the tiger of Asia.''he said. They were really passionate about the country and its culture. We did a full tour of the castle and were out in an hour. I quickly glanced at my phone to see the time as the last bus back to the station was at 17:00 if I recalled it right. I told the couple that I had to leave to catch the bus and asked them the way out.I was super anxious that I would miss the last bus and wasn’t thinking about anything other than making it in time back to the stop. “Can I take a picture of you with my wife? It is for our memory” he asked, taking his phone out of his pocket. “Shoot! How can I not think of that!?” Meeting the couple was the only magically beautiful experience that day.
