When you say you're embarking on a journey to Thailand everyone has an opinion and you discover everyone has been there. I embarked on a journey to find the little bits of delight hidden well away from the package tourist holidaymaker. As an ancient traveller I quickly learned about the magic of a small island growing in spirituality. Built on crystals made from the volcano that formed it, Koh phenang is that island. Overlooked and overshadowed by its bigger sister Koh Samui and underrated by travellers heading for underwater adventures on Koh Tao. Let me tell you there is nothing insignificant about this island. It's long been noted for the "full moon party" Forget all that. Forget what you've heard. Head North and West instead to the beautiful peaceful beaches of Had Cho pho, Had Salad and Had Mae. Here you will find seclusion in your tropical paradise washed down with a coconut smoothy.. or a beer. This place lives and breathes in mindfulness. New retreats offering yoga devotees the opportunity to eat world class vegan cuisine are springing up everywhere. It appeals to old hippies like me and yoga bunnies alike. More importantly it caters so well for the single traveller in search of themselves. It offers very simply a connection to other like minded planet conscious souls. Believe me if you weren't woke when you went then you will be upon your return. Not only did I become attuned in Reiki, I discovered a past life I was unaware of and learned to make peace with it. I lived in the moment and lost track of days and time as my body adjusted to the gentle rigours of yoga practice eased by frequent massage. All this in two weeks...and on a tight budget! Yes it's cheap here...but not for long. Pack your toothbrush now and dont look back. As my guru said now is the moment. If you want it do it. Dont think too hard.
