“What a tall guy” – she whispered to me. I just smiled and followed him to our room. He was quite excited about the place where we were going to. I felt like I can not say no, and looked at Darina: - I am just exhausted; do you really want to go there? - He was nice and agreed to host us, will it be impolite to stay at home? What do you think, Darina? - You are right, but promise we are not going to be late - I am as exhausted as you are, baby. In a half an hour, we were sitting in the train and he was still talking about the place and how nice would it be to party and dance there. I was trying to look excited and involved, however, all the horrifying stories about those easy-mark girls start exactly like this. Unknown guy, unknown place, late night… I was trying to convince myself that he has many positive reviews on Couchsurfing, and desperately analyzing if people in the train would help. But people were leaving one by one and I suddenly realized that we were riding for too long. He explained that this is the special party village, so it takes quite long to get there. Finally, we arrived. It looked absolutely ‘nothing special’, like a normal street, but bars instead of houses. “If we do not like it, we will just go home” – we said to each other and smiled. He was ahead and in hurry to get a drink. We wanted to go back in 15 minutes. He just got lost at the moment we said we did not feel like we want to drink and party hard, and that is not what we usually do. Quite exaggerated, of course, we did party usually. It was the second or third hour there, a waiter woke us up and reminded that we were in the bar. We said nothing and entered the next one and fell asleep there. Endless cycle. “I see him” – she happily shouted. “The next train is at 6 am, we have 4 more hours, enjoy it!” – he replied. We knew we could not go back to bars, we were tired of drunk guys and angry waiters. - “Well, I always know that you are crazy and adventurist, but why do I always follow you?” - “Haha, because we are friends, and I know we will always be ok. And well we are students, no money as usual” - “I am not really ok now, it is too cold” We slept in a photo booth for the rest of the night, hugging each other to keep warm. She reminded me the night we spent in a shelter for refugees. It was the night I lost my passport, money, laptop and keys from our flat. We went out for 5 minutes, since we just moved into the flat and had no wifi. Two girls in pajamas sitting in a public square. “Stop playing, give me my bag and let’s go home” … But, she was not playing and the rest of that night was spent in the police station and the shelter where they took us. I do not know what was worse, a sleepless night with crying children or next morning walking back home to meet a landlord in a pajama and bumping into the guy I liked. Another adventurous night – we concluded and laughed. On our way to the hotel that we finally booked after taking our staff from his place, I just looked at her, her hazel eyes were so calm. We both were so peaceful and not worried at all. Strange, right? Probably, that was the moment I realized all the unknown is not scary if you have a true friend beside, and I would definitely go through all of it again.
