A leap into the unknown Australia

As a Brazilian reggae singer Im always traveling around my country and from time to time I got a call from some promoters from foreign to do a tour abroad. The year was 2011 and I got a call from a Brazilian promoter to do 7 days tour on Australia and New Zealand with shows in Sidney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Auckland. Back then my daughter had just 2 years old and I asked the promoter if I could bring her and my wife too and he said yes. So we took a flight with a one night connection in Dubai and it was great to see the city lights and opulent vibes. I was glad it was just one a night connection so I didn’t have to spend too much money there. Next morning we woke up early and took the next flight straight to Sidney. When we arrive we just couldn’t believe. It was hot like a summer in Rio. We took a cab to the hotel where the promoter was waiting to take us to eat at a nice restaurant by the beach. We were amazed about how beautiful it was to see those beautiful beaches with clean blue waters full of people surfing, jogging , having fun... We ate on a nice Italian restaurant as pasta it’s my daughter favorite dish. She loved the vibe. It reminded me a lot of Brazil but more organized. Everybody was gentle and educated so we end up feeling welcome. At night I played on a nice Club just beside the iconic Opera house. The club was pack with a lot of Brazilians, Australians, Koreans... people from all over the globe. It was great to perform there. Next day we woke up early to get a small ferry to the Taruga Zoo, one of the greatest zoos in Australia. It’s on a beautiful Island , full of well maintained animals and a great infrastructure for families. My daughter saw a kangaroo for the first time and loved all the attractions of the park. At night we flew to Brisbane for the next show. The city was nice but we didn’t had a proper time to really go anywhere. My wife and daughter stayed at the hotel while I went to the club for the next show. The place was a very nice club full of young college students. The show was amazing. I took some photos have some autograph and then came back to the hotel. Next day we woke up early for a 1 hour drive straight to Gold Coast. Me and my family just slept the whole time. When we arrived at Surfers Paradise we couldn’t believe how beautiful the beach was. White sand , blue sea, powerful waves... It was just like the surf movies I used to watch when I was a kid. We stayed in front of the surfers paradise beach on a nice apartment with a kitchen so we were able to cook some Brazilian food for our daughter. On the next days my friend Sergio from Brazil, took us on a day trip to Byron Bay, one of the most beautiful places I ever went. They had a great Lighthouse on a nice village , full of artists and musicians painting and playing on the streets with a very positive “hippie” vibe. I did my last show there and it was very nice. Just like the name says Surfers Paradise it’s really the place to be if you like to surf and party. So the next days we went to some outlets and shopping centers to buy clothes and presents for my daughter. The price was good as the Australian dollar is cheaper than the American. There they have all great brands so we found everything we want. On the last day we went to burleigh, a nice beach near of surfers paradise. It was so great to have my family on this tour and be able to enjoy Australia with my daughter. We brought a lot of art from the aborigines and presents for the whole family. But the most important thing is the memories of being in such a great country full of nice people.
