A trip that changed my life.

A leap into the unknown Mauritius

We all have some memories in our minds that take us back to the time when something magical happened that completely changed us forever. We can't travel back and live those moments again but we can certainly cherish the lesson they taught us and made us who we are today. It was summers of 2016 when i got the chance to travel to Mauritius and do an internship with one of the world's biggest youth organization AIESEC. Despite having a little knowledge about what was to come, when i eventually arrived everything was larger than life. That year AIESEC in Mauritius was hosting around 200 interns from different parts of the world. There were interns from countries that i had never heard of before and then interns from countries like Germany, France, UK and US. This diversity was what opened my eyes to many different cultures, languages and many other things. It was particularly more significant in shaping up my personality and allowing me to experience things that i had never tried before. Back home in Pakistan you can easily get accustomed to the usual way of living which is to judge people on their dressing, their habits like drinking alcohol and young people choosing to be sexually active. Over here no one was bothered about anyone doing anything people were open to giving space to one another and exchanging view points without a sense of judgement. I used to consider myself to be relatively liberal but my concept of this word expanded to a whole new level as i spent more time with my fellow interns. Honestly i have to give it to the beauty of this Island country as well, where the sky looked magical and the beaches were nothing less than a heaven, there was just something in the air that allowed my mind to get filled with a lot of positivity and start questioning the way i looked at the world.
