This is a story about how I joined the ambassador program for youth athletes in Special Olympics, which I am impressed on how special needs children are trained in an international sports organizational way. Through this interesting first business trip, can I widen my horizon on working with children from a micro perspective. Despite as a child worker, it is not easy having international exchange opportunity with other service providers on an international platform. It’s kind of a milestone leading a revision on my own career path working with children which started in 2006. In 2012, due to personal interest, I went to take a three-day course of certificate in playwork. It mainly focused on studying how play influences the age group of 2-6, and also concerning the design on playground environment and the assessment on safety, etc. Thinking back on it, it seemed like compensation to once what I loved to study (there was a pop-up thought of studying a master course of therapeutic play in the UK in 2010). Around 2017, when there was much pressure on not finding a normal full-time which I can passion for, an MNC logo impressed my attention in a career expo. Based on the experiences of children and customer services in the early years, also curiosity, an indispensable motivation to explore how an MNC will operate an indoor playground which was a child-hosting service, I applied for the post which was mainly on duty in the playroom. During that year, I took the chance to enrol and be chosen as a teammate of 6 out of 27 candidates all over the local stores’ staff, leading to my first business trip -- joining a global citizenship programme which was held by the company foundation annually. Being an ambassador, visiting the training of youth athletes aged 2-6 years old in the Special Olympics of Thailand. I admitted that keeping up the speed and rhythm to transform the pressure that was generated from the past career path shadow, was a little step of one leap to unknown. Especially when following a new teamwork spirit, can I strengthen myself from a playroom assistant to be capable of sitting in the middle of the Special Olympics meeting of Thailand (of course embracing the confidence from the previous experiences on working with special educational needs children was inevitably). I remembered I didn't perform well as I expected in the trip, e. g. besides friends and myself, I have not travelled with strangers for long. Togetherness, another exploration, was a new taste to me. Through the journey of being a unicorn, If found my uniqueness and strength for another mile of life. As the beginning of my new position on children this coming spring, I am excited about exploring new perspectives on how children learn in primary school from a diversified Chinese and Western culture city.
