Before I went to this little island, I had my doubts 'should I travel all the way to this place in midst of sea with only 2.71sqkm area.' But amini was the best thing that happened to me. I took travellers ship, sea was quiet I realised later it was just a welcoming gesture. In the morning from the deck I saw that green oval island surrounded by blue lagoon. I was so happy seeing this unknown island I knew what I have been waiting for. Then came the swaying stairs to deboard the ship, I was so excited it didn't matter at all though I panicked when in between I looked down at sea. For I could not afford the tourist package and had travelled as a commoner. Then I started walking, I saw every human there gave me a smile. If in my place people smile at strangers u feel weird but here I realised later it was their genuine happiness. The people here are uncorrupted simple humans, did not know cheating tricking cunning. They just let their hearts rule, live on their instincts and wisdom of having survived years at this place. You would never meet such kindhearted and truthful people. You can leave your houses open money phone lying around no one would even move it . But if you or any islander face an issue they would do anything at any cost to help you. They say there were different religions initially most of them migrants from cannanore area and some Jews Christian's and Arabs but one day a preacher came and the whole island turned Muslim that day. For amini is not a tourist island if you want to reach there you have to get the help of a native. The other islands are quite tourist spots with separate arrangements for them. While amini the queen of islands was supposed to be the capital as it's the island historically culturally most important island but the elders there refused both for capital and tourism as it would mean more people more constructions the island might get corrupted and damaged. you can go to any house in island and they would serve you the best food that's available there and your appetite is more than satisfied. Here you expect alot of sea food crab oyster prawn lobster different variety fishes right . But what you get commonly is tuna and rarely octopus. The lagoon fishes you have to go and capture and cook and they are the best ones I ever had .But the reason they don't exploit their Marine Forest is simple . It's an ecosystem they are coral islands thus protecting them from impact of sea . So if you destroy their ecosystem, the corals, just few moments and the land would be no more . The only animals you see here are goats cats and rats . Dogs snakes are not seen here. Alconol crackers are prohibited. Even 2g speed internet and mostly even calling and messaging are like far fetched things. So for the adrenaline rush all you have is sea the starry nights. At night beaches are empty you can lie there watching stars till morning. During cyclone days the wind the sea look so angry that all you can do is pray for survival . The boats the birds everything was tossing nature seemed so powerful and you are just a mere human then. Once I travelled by plain boat to nearby island the boat almost lopsided every other second. islanders were quite good swimmers, I not knowing the unknown was happily laughing when i saw all of them praying together to protect us, it was at the moment I realised I could drown I knew no swimming there was no lifejacket but I felt a strength that there's still a lot waiting for me still to learn still to bear hardships this is not the end and soon it was over and I even rode the boat in lagoon. There I went diving to see the corals the fishes all colors happily schooling around were quite a site . It left me thinking there's a another beautiful world in sea ancient than us better than us.
