Myself and my school friend have instilled a ritual of Saturday road trips since the last 2 years. I'm a nature lover, and he is fond of having a meal in the natural ambiance like mountains, forests or the countryside. I can vividly recall each and every road trip. One such ride is deeply engraved in our minds. Last year, in the month of September, both of us decided to go out on my bike for a road trip. We skipped the last two Saturdays and were longing to escape into nature. It was a lovely Sunny Day. Everything was fine till we were traveling on the national highway number 3. We took a turn and started riding on the road that leads to Bhavli dam. Out of the blue, the weather got cloudy. There were dark clouds gathered at the peak of the mountain. As we started moving up with our bike, the raindrops began falling. The sky became darker and the scanty rainfall transformed into heavy rain. We took a halt under a wooden shed but the rain didn't seem to stop. I was in an adventurous mood. I didn't mind getting wet. But my friend was unwilling to proceed with the journey. I had a raincoat in my backpack. My friend finally got convinced after I handed him my raincoat. As we began our journey towards the next destination, we could see the golden line of sunshine on the faraway clouds. The horizon seemed clear and bright. But as soon as we reached the Highway, it started raining very heavily. It wasn't a travel-friendly rain. We found a shed and took a halt again. At this point, we were thinking about returning to the city but our hearts could not buy it. By now, the rain wasn't as wild as it was a few minutes ago. We kicked- off towards our next destination. As we took a turn from the highway, there was a surprising change in nature. We witnessed the sun's presence after a long while. The wet fields and the water bodies wore the gold dress offered to them by the sun rays. There was a beautiful view of huge mountains on both sides of the road. We were heading towards Payne near Trimbakeshwar. The countryside air revitalized us. But things were not so easy for us that day. Sun was in a mood to play hide-and-seek with us. The climate changed again. Dark clouds gathered and to my surprise, it started raining again. The rain was incessant. Unlike the wet adventure so far, the raindrops were ferocious. Each raindrop was stinging on the skin of our face. However, I was experiencing this thrill with bliss. But my friend got anxious. He was blaming the weather. He was regretting the decision of planning a road trip. I was thankful for such an adventurous day. We saw the huge waterfalls cascading from the peaks of mountains on both sides of the countryside road. We don't get to see this magic in the summers. Our Lunch point was arriving soon. Now the rain was less intense but it didn't seem to stop. We were just one bridge away from having our meal at our favorite food spot. The water flooding over the bridge captured our attention. The tremendous flow of water surprised us. The bridge wasn't much high from the surface but the sight was a vigorously flowing water was terrifying. And the level of water was rising with the falling rain. The cars managed to cross the flow. But the people at the roadside hotel were shouting at us telling us to go back safely. To return by the same route was a great deal. It will take 2 hours to get back to the highway. We saw some bikers daring to cross the flow. After some hesitation, my friend decided to risk it. We started off. Slowly we reach the middle of the flow. Our heartbeats raised as the tires of my bike slid against the slippery road full of speedily flowing water. Finally, we crossed the flow. We took the risk and managed to cease the extended journey through the same road. My friend and I didn't want to miss the country meal. We were in a vibrant mood. The meal was delicious as usual. The weather was cloudy when we started the return journey towards home. My friend got a phone call. The news about the heavy rainfall in my hometown stunned us. We could not afford to delay. As we already risked a lot, we decided to keep going. As we started getting a glimpse of urban areas, the rain increased its speed. By the time we reached the city, it was raining cats and dogs. At the signal, the level of water was increasing. The water covered half part of the bike tires. One of the main squares of the city was extremely flooding. There was an expanding water cyclone near the signal. Our bike was quite near to the cyclone. People were signaling the traffic to watch out and stay away from the cyclone. Yet another thrilling moment. Finally, I reached home totally soaked in wetness. My parents were not at home. They were at my uncle's house. At the end of the day, I could not save myself from the wild weather but I saved myself from my parent's scoldings. They returned after the weather became calm and silent. My friend and I decided to take the car for such thrills next time. My friend was angry. But it was indeed a memorable day. An unforgettable, watery and adventurous road trip.
