A Wrong Way to a Whole New World

A leap into the unknown Thailand

It was a windy yet sunny morning, and I was on the way to visit a mountainous village of the tribal group in Chaing Rai, Thailand. I figured I could have gone insane because this was not really on my itinerary, but we somehow accidentally took the wrong ride. My friends would not mind since they are into this traditional kind of stuff, which I, on the other hand, had always considered not my cup of tea. When we arrived, some tribal people approached to us and warmly welcomed us by speaking broken English that confused the entire lots of visitors. This village is known for its coffee plantation, so the first thing they showed us was the process of making a cup of coffee, starting from roasting coffee beans. In the beginning, they only demonstrated and explained how things would go, but later on they let us tried it all by ourselves with them standing beside and giving advice on how to use the old-fashioned coffee machine. It went surprisingly fun and informative for me, and I did not even remember since when I had started to understand what the villagers were saying. A couple of them was able to communicate in English, and one was the head of the village. He was always asking us whether it was convenient spending time and going from place to place there and even offered to take us to this secret spot where he said had never been exposed to any tourists before. So, we were the first to witness the indescribable beauty of this home-stay. I must say this place has the most beautiful scenery I have ever looked upon. From the top where it is situated, I can see the whole serene city of Chiang Rai and an endless horizon to the other end of the sky. I then suddenly realized that it was the first time in my life I can breathe in fresh air without hesitation. We did not take out a cellphone nor a camera to capture the moment there. Instead, we seized and kept it in the form of feelings. This way, we can reminisce about the moment whenever and wherever we want to. I want to thank whatever brought us to this incredible place and warm-hearted hosts. If we had gone to another tourist attraction, we would not have experienced such a great trip that cannot be found anywhere else in this world. After giving it a thought, I now see that sometimes I can be judgmental about things and places that I have not yet seen, met or been to. From now on, I made myself a promise to give it a shot to every opportunity that arises to me and I will make the best experience out of it without quick prejudice.
