Ayinde always knew his mother was magical but when an ocean spirit kidnaps him to the depths of the sea as ransom for the deal his mother made with the MAMI Wata spirit, he uncovers how magical his mother his. On land, his distraught mother must band together with her sisters and mother to get Ayinde back before it's too late. Together the women take a journey that spans the country from New York City to South Carolina low country and eventually landing them in the Caribbean as they move through a journey of self discovery and divine femininity in order to save the families first male child in generations. Amongst the Waves examines familial bonds and how when broken the reverberations present themselves through generations. With elements of African Traditional spirituality and mysticism, Amongst the Waves is a family drama that teaches us to love all of our parts encouraging healing that has the opportunity to heal an entire familial line. This story speaks of the breaking of generational curses, embracing divine assignments, and reclaiming our spirits.
