The opportunity to travel to Cambodia was an unexpected and sudden thing I took in late January to early February period of 2019. The journey itself was swift and in less than 24 hours from Australia, I had arrived. The first shock of many was of people driving on the opposite side of the road the other was the interesting way people went about traffic laws as I knew them. I will keep brief my fun in Phnom Penh and take you on an adventure in Krong Siem Reap. Siem Reap is a tourist destination in Cambodia that has multiple areas in which a person can go about seeing different parts of Cambodia’s culture. This includes the night markets, the temples, the restaurants and museums with multiple different tour experiences, for me the most exciting experience I had was a sunset ATV ride throughout an area of Siem reap were we visited multiple temples and drove through back roads seeing the sites until we reached a lovely rest stop with a glowing view of the sun setting in the rice fields. That small trip was an exhilarating little adventure in my bigger one of journeying to Siem reap with a friend. The ride itself taught me a new skill as I had never ridden an ATV in my life, it was fascinating to learn and drive it, although a little caution is necessary as you will finish the ride covered in dirt and dust that’s lifted off the ground and attached itself to you. Siem Reap is a choose your own adventure opportunity nobody should miss, as there are options for adults and families it all depends on what takes your fancy. I would say the trip taught me to be a bit more open to opportunity as I was hesitant to try to drive an ATV until my friend encouraged me to try, I’m glad I went to Cambodia and even happier I took the opportunity to go to Siem Reap and try different foods and do things I’ve never done before. Take a chance and see what it gives you.
