Hectic work and schedules made me travel to Mardi Himal Base Camp in Nepal. Just after the flight landed in Pokhara, i felt like a bird because i was free from everything. Free from the world i knew. It was a trek and i was prepared to walk for ten thousand miles looking at a million stars. The trek started from Australian Base Camp. It was a sunny day but who knew it would be raining soon. I was wet in the middle of this dense forest, i never imagined. My friends looked at me and said leeches were loving me. I cared but i didn’t care anymore after the hundred leeches i met on the way. Walking around 8 hours which included 5 hours of walk in the rain made me reach Forest Base Camp. Cold and tired, hungry and sleepy, me directly asked for dinner and home made wine (popular in such regions), which gave me comfort i wanted all day. I was next to a friend called fire, to get its heat who probably didn’t like me burnt my trekking shoe, which was the only shoe i brought. Anyway, i slept thinking of nothing but tomorrow. Woke up early, packed my stuffs, and moved ahead. They said “never trust 3 Ws : Wine, Women, and Weather”. I was not someone living by the sayings but damn, after a couple of hours walk, it rain again. No shelter in between, no proper rain coat, but still kept walking, running, and moving. Met people on the way, and most of them were trekkers. But whenever i met some people on the way, i tried feeling them, their stories, and their faces. All of the local people had a story to tell and everyone had a smile, which hide everything to everyone, but i guess not to me. Living under the himalayas, sleeping next to tigers and bears in the forest, and sharing the same air with the leaves and birds, those porters i met were somebody who had their families waiting for them. Just thinking of the little and big things which I usually didn’t think, made me reach Higher Base Camp in the second night. The foggy day was over as it got dark. I was sad too because we were there view the magestic mountain, Mt. Annapurna from its tail. But the bad weather wasn’t helping us to make us our day. We had to wake up at 4 am to hike straight to Mardi Himal Base Camp, which was tough in many ways. From waking up early, to hike with those tired legs, i could nothing but pray for the strength and a clear day tomorrow. Well, i somehow opened my eyes in the morning, was still dark but i could see the red coloured mountain tip, which was probably the reflection of sun and the moon. I was happy to see no clouds, though it was dark. Didn’t wasted time there, but my happy and excited face with its body moved upwards. I remember, after 5 hours of walk in the early morning i reached The real base camp i came for. Such a tremendous joy, such an orgasm it was, such a lovely feeling it was, when i made it to the top and watched the hills, himalayas, clouds and also everything that below us. I was standing on the chest of a mountain, it was almost a heaven.
