An exhausting day

Making a local connection Nepal

When I thought the last thing possible for me to do was travel, came this opportunity of going to Nepal for a conference. I tried clearing my head thinking about the possibilities of this actually happening. A massive self-realization happened followed by a minor break-down. I actually always adored the idea of travelling and seeing the world but I never realized that. I made a final decision after convincing my overly stubborn parents and started going through the formal procedure I need to maintain to actually make it happen. Now seven days prior to the trip I bought tickets and gathered all the required documents. The entire process made me more stressed than excited. So the finally the day comes and I leave the house with immense exuberance. The entire process of airport formality almost felt like a dream. All the while I imagined Himalayas in Nepal. The beauty I will get to get to gulp down and the friends I will get to make. Almost dizzy with excitement I hopped on to the plane. The organizers of the conference came to pick me up in the airport. They instructed me to go check in my hotel room and relax as they'll send me the luggage in a while. Upon unlocking my suitcase and opening it up I realize that I have actually picked up the wrong suitcase in the airport. Utter shock and despair was the feeling. Not understanding what to do I unpacked the suitcase and figured despite the differences I actually like the clothes in there and they'll all fit me. Accepting the absolutely disgusting act of living on someone else's clothes I went on with it. On the first day of the conference I wore formals. A blue checkered pant and suit. I entered the conference hall with a sense of shyness and discomfort despite knowing I looked better than usual wearing these foreign clothes. The moment I stepped in, the vice president of the program was giving a speech wearing my pink formal skirt and blazer.
