I was invited to a trip to Romania. I must admit it wasn't the country I was the most thrilled to visit, I didn't know anything about it and didn't know what to expect. But I knew it was one of those eastern countries that wasn't touristic at all, I got really intrigued. The first week, we went to the north where we were invited to a wedding. I've only been to one wedding in my life so I was really excited about it. They have 2 ceremonies, a traditional one and a church one and then we partied all night. It was so colorful, the music was from another time, the dresses and dances were beautiful... I had a lot of fun even thought they didn't speak a lot of English. After the wedding we went back to the capital, Bucarest. Since I was small, I always wanted to do something significant, that would leave a trace in this world, even a small one, so I decided to do some volunteering work. We found a church which worked with a local orphanage. I love children, I know I want to work with them in my future job, they're the one for who we're building a better life for. The kids were full of energy, I had a whole planning of what we could do: a few English classes, games... We never did the English classes. For a whole week we played games, made bracelets and sang songs. I got attached to them and they got attached to me, for them I was like a big sister with whom they could have fun. I was adpoted when I was 4 years old, so I don't have a lot of memories from that time but I remember that it was like a family and we always found new way to have fun. I've always built a strong relationship with all the kids I ran into. We didn't talk much, it was mostly hugs, holding hands and smiles, who would've of thought it meant that much to someone? The most important is not really the communication but the way you can make someone feel. I didn't even had to say anything, my eyes would say it all. This experience taught me a lot, it taught me that throught everything there's always a light, someone that's going to understand you and never judge you or you background. It's in moments like those that you see more than just an experience, but you see life in a whole new perspective.
