An Unplanned Visit!

Sometimes in life, we must take risks. Life's all about facing your fears and overcoming them. One of my worst fears was travelling alone abroad. Due to high exposure to news on the television, I had this perception in my mind that girls can not travel alone. Although the world is a dangerous place, it isn't hell. And if I try, I will definitely survive on my own. On my twentieth birthday, my mother gifted me a ticket to France in the city of Venice. She also booked a room for me in a hotel. Although I was anxious, I happily accepted the gift because I did not want to upset her. One week after my birthday, I left for my tour of Venice with a frightened heart. Upon reaching Venice, the hotel's employee waited for me holding a cardboard with my name on it. I couldn't help but admire the overwhelming beauty of its architecture, it's art and street decorations. There were plenty of shops, cafes and shopping centres here. I stayed in the hotel the first night, the next day I spent wandering the streets of Paris simply mesmerized at its aesthetic nature and beautiful shops. I took a ride in the lake through a gondola. Venice is a good spot for photography. The next day, I visited St. Mark's Basilica. It is said to be Venice's best church. And it is also one of the most recognized churches in the world. This church has a soaring interior. My third visit was to St. Mark's Square. The expanse of this large square is brought together and is made to seem almost intimate by the elegant and prepossessing uniformity of its architecture on all of the three sides. But more than its architecture it is loved as Venice's living rooms. It is a place everybody from all over the world gathers, strolls, drinks coffee, chat, makes friends or just walks through on their way to work or to play. My fourth visit was at the Ca' d'Oro. It is said that it was once a palazzo but now it is an art museum. It works to look at the way wealthy Venetians lived in the 15th and 16th centuries. Boran Giorgo Franchetti was the one responsible for saving the palace so he gave the whole of his art collection to the state in 1922. I visited so many more places such as Lake Garda, Burano Islands, Verona, Padua, Prosecco Region, etc. And the foods that I tried were Bread, Pastries, Raclettes etc. I am glad that I got out of my comfort zone and tried something new. My fear of travelling alone has definitely subsided. And it was a once in a lifetime experience. Venice was simply, enchanting. I may have gone out of Venice, but it has not gotten out of me.
