"Let's go to Thangassery!", said Reshma when we were in our final year of college. Of course, its only three hours from our campus but both of us knew neither of our parents would be on board with just the two of us going that far. So we waited and a year later, after graduation, when we didn't have much going on, we finally decided to go. We were both ardently waiting to see the light house at Thangassery. We started planning our trip and that's when my cousin, Sulu, chimed in. And so we set out one day. We had to go early because we had a time constraint, considering none of our families knew where we were going. We took the direct bus from Thiruvananthapuram to Kollam. We knew Thangassery was in Kollam but we didn't know exactly which stop to get down at. And just as we feared, we got it wrong. We got down two stops early. But it was fine. We caught another bus which took us straight to Thangassery and from there we walked the rest of the way to the lighthouse. When we reached there, all three of us were awestruck because we couldn't believe we made it. We walked around, taking in the sights and then went up to the lighthouse. Standing on the viewing deck, we were amazed at how awesome the view was. We were stupefied. The sea, with its majestic blue color was spread out on one side and a gorgeous green fanned out on the other with some buildings sticking out here and there. We joked around a lot and had a really good time. We left the lighthouse just before noon but we weren't ready to go back home, atleast not yet. There really wasn't much else to do there. It was either the beach or a small amusement park. And the beach it was. Upon reaching there, we soon realized that we should've gone to the park. Who would've thought that at 12 noon, the sun would be up so high?!? And there wasn't much shade to stand under either, which led us to decide to have lunch instead. We consulted our trusted friend 'Google' to find a good restaurant and took an autorickshaw to '8 Point Art Cafe'. The area was surprisingly remote yet close to the city. They had some amazing artworks and handicrafts. the place was beautiful and tranquil. We could just sit there and hang out for hours. After lunch, we talked a lot and us being us, goofed around a lot. They also had a raised platform for music nights where we pretended to be performing in an amazing concert with our adoring fans cheering us on. We really enjoyed ourselves. Around 2 pm, we left the cafe to head back home. The first bus we got on broke down almost immediately and after about 5 minutes of being on the second bus I realized that I'd lost my purse. We got down and started retracing our steps. By now it was 2:30 pm and we had to be home by atleast 6 pm. We searched the bus we had got on earlier. Nothing. We went back to the cafe and searched near the table we sat. Nothing. We talked to the cafe's manager about it. Nothing. All that time all I could think was that I couldn't lose my purse for two reasons. One, my bank card and driver's license was in it. And two, I couldn't tell my parents where and how I lost my purse. So we searched the grounds and finally found it. It was on the platform where our pretend concert took place. At long last, we headed back. We reached home by 6:30, none the wiser about what we were up to all day long.
