Back to the Future-As I have originally travelled to the past and set in motion the undoubtedly existential adventure of the Chola Dynasty. The vision of Raja Raja Chola I in my 21st century clothing existed the great living Chola Temple – BRIHADESHWARA TEMPLE. Known as UNESCO World Heritage Site the temple stood as a tall engraved stone representing Mount Kailash amidst the sky and the ground. The massive Gopura at the entrance formed the Axis and set in motion to the circumambulatory space where the Mandapas and Nandi’s formed the Rhythm, the Unity and Varity to the vision. As I set further, I could admire the Frescoes and Sculptures where in every detail connects to the Cultural power of the Regime. It explains by itself their economic power, established disciplined bureaucracy, active overseas trade and the level of literacy and education in the society. To my surprise the Inscriptions was to honor each and every person who took part to make this wonder a reality without technology. The magnificent temple of phenomenal beauty and proportion in itself honors the Tamil language. It is 216 feet tall with 13 story and the top most stone weights 80 tones. All said and done it is only the outermost space and detail of the immortal edifies. Now comes the inner space welcomed by flights of stairs by two giant demons on the sides are the mandapa where I can feel the vibe of the granite stone with a different comfort temperature from the hot burning sun outside. Also, the lited lamp formed a divine radiation to the inner space. I could here the chant of the prayer and ringing of the bell not letting my mind waver. At this point there comes the introduction of the immense beauty of the painting and its detail using natural hues adding glory to the space. Me approaching the Garbhagriha and standing in front of the tall Siva Lingaa was a feel of enlightenment, a connect between the mind and the body. Since I told connect, I would rather talk about the Engineering beauty in modern words it’s a LEGO-a construction consisting of interlocking stones.as I stepped out approaching the outer space climbing down the flight of steps, I took a moment to sit down where I over heard a Guide explaining to a Tourist about the foreign trade by pointing to a sculpture above showing the same 21st century clothing which I wore and this is where I was Back to the Future.
