I traveled to Dubai last summer, in order to discover what has changed in the last ten years in the city. I was surprised at how opened some situations were and how closed up some others still were. I stayed down town in a very famous hotel, which allowed me to use all of their facilities, including pool, sauna, steam room and so on. As ex sport person, I trained every day an the Dubai sport centre, which was located at Dubai trade world and I played volleyball and mostly beach volleyball under extreme heat, even at night. It was so hot and had drunk as much water I could find during the day and night while playing. I remember that on the first day, no one knew me, but after I arrived back at my hotel, full of sand and sweaty at 5am in the morning, my cover as a player was blown away and everyone I met after that was super nice. Dubai offers you everything, the tourist attractions are top notch, so I won't tell details of all of them, because one must try. Believe my words it's a fantastic city to visit, you have so many nice things in there to see. As always I focus on playing beach volleyball and I did it every day, until I left. I confess that using a tube where women and men were separated was a bit odd, but it is what is. I tried sky diving, it was too crazy, i also visit the old Dubai, a must see in my opinion, apart from the Dubai marine, oceanarium, malls. The restaurants are so nice, and they have food from every corner of the world, which is also appreciated when you travel and are away from home, family, friends. I made great friends while there, they even asked me if I wanna be their fitness coach as they wanted to lose some weight, but I had to return to Stockholm where I live but as a keen traveler, I will surely come back. I also visit Abu Dhabi, which is the capital city, please go to Ferrari world, it's is also a must in my eyes. I ate at Dubai marine as I love fish, again I'm not naming the restaurants because I want you guys to try them out. Something quite funny happened once, because on my first day to the beach to play beach volleyball, I met a girl Jessa, her name, and I was dressed as beach volleyball player, you know, shorts, sandals and nothing much, I asked her if she knew where I could play beach volleyball and she told me, she didn't, but as I didn't trust the bus driver, I told her, think again, and after a while, she told me the beach where everyone goes to play. Most hotels offers a shuttle to the beach and most touristic places, but I wanted to try to blend in a bit, so I took the local transports. The thing with meeting a nice girl while traveling, is that sometimes, they don't understand that the reason why I was visiting Dubai was to play and discover the city and not to find a girlfriend, so she kept asking me, how can I be out in this heat and jumping around, instead of taking her out. Oh boy, tough love I told her, so if she could cope with me going out to play beach volleyball at night and come back late full of sand every night, I might take her out. So one day we arrange finally a dinner in a very nice restaurant at Dubai marina and she was late and in Dubai the internet connection is not so good as in many other major cities, so as I arrive at the restaurant, again fully dressed on my sport clothes, as I was going to play again, the restaurant had no WiFi, so I was shocked, such a nice restaurant without internet connection, I said to myself and not to get disappointed as I couldn't leave until she arrived, I kept walking up and down near the front door to see if I could see her coming. After one and half hour she finally arrived and we spend all dinner laughing about her being late, funny thing is, we are still very much in love.
