Bruxelles

A leap into the unknown Belgium

It was time, time to enter the Flix bus. 7:00 am in the morning I was up getting ready with all my bags packed. I was in Frankfurt Germany living with my uncle, I took the path of being a freelance model and this is a story of one of the earliest yet craziest experience I had ever encountered. I arrive at the bus centre with my guitar and bag pack and the journey from Germany to Belgium is approximately a four hour drive. As soon as I arrive at Brussels I exit the bus with my bags to meet the photographer who covered the costs of my trip. He helped me carry my bags and he took me to the hotel to check in and also a place for me to dump my bags so he could show me a tour of the city of Brussels. I noticed one major issue that almost made the trip seem like a hell hole.. I had left my passport on the bus! I searched my jean pockets and noticed they were not there so I also returned to the hotel and checked my bags and noticed it was not there so I was anxious.. I had to go to the police station to file a report on a missing passport as well as getting an ID paper to prove I was a real person in order to return to Germany in the 2 days. This event was tragic but it was also beautiful because at least it showed me how much obstacles I was willing to cross just in order to get my passport back to me. I called the Flix bus company and told them to keep any eye out for a missing passport on the bus that drives to Frankfurt but I could already tell that this was not of their concern. Flix bus have a reputation of letting people know that their items are a responsibility of their own and not a responsibility of theirs which looking back it is actually quite a good lesson really. With no luck of finding the passport I found it quite hard to enjoy my time in Brussels since I clearly saw that I would not find it again since it was likely to be stolen or thrown in the trash or whatever. The next day the photographer took me to do some photo shooting in the foods and a farm area. It was an a beautiful area in the country side, I remember feeling cheered up being in that environment speaking to the photographer. He was an older guy, former army pilot for Belgium. He told me that passports are easy to replace and bad experiences in life are the best thing that can ever happen since they prepare you to do better in a future time. I felt a little better hearing this but I was still quite worried because I had a scheduled trip to Vancouver Canada in literally the next few days. I had to cancel that trip since the new passport was going to take months to arrive to my address. The photos created a scenery of me playing guitar in the open fields nude. Luckily it was quite a hot day so the cold was not present. He took me to a friends house where I met a family who were kind enough to prepare food for me and the photographer. The family had a son round about my age (19/20) who actually had a bee hive in the backyard and he would go and withdraw natural real honey and sell it. He gave me the honey for free to take home to Germany which was definitely very kind indeed and as I was tasting it I could definitely tell the difference between the store honey and the Natural one. The next day came and it was time to return to Germany, I had no ID to show to the bus driver but at least I had my documents to prove that I was a real person so they let me on fortunately. When I returned back home to spread the news to my uncle, he jumped!
