When I first arrived, there was a sense of mystery that ignited my curiosity. The Floral smells at day, the sounds of the street life at night. They all left me wondering how I’ve never thought to come to Cambodia before. From the food, nightlife, Buddhist temples and luxurious resorts. I was left in awe at how perfect of a vacation this would be. I was over thrown with excitement, and began to try it all as the days went on. Next thing you knew, I was drinking out of a beach castle sand bucket, watching a woman fire dance in front of me, while the DJ played some of the best remixes I’ve ever heard to my favourite songs. A few days later I found out about Microlight’s for the first time and set up my very own sky-tour of the buddhist temples. It was one of the best things I ever did. I learned these temples originally began building in the em early 800’s and wasn’t completed until the late 1300’s. The hotels were very cheap but full of luxury. You can easily find a room with a view and pool for $15 a day. The food from the street vendors was also something to celebrate. You could easily find mountainous plates of food for $1 and the customer service went above and beyond. Throughout my time there, I met some of the kindest souls and even found a great organization to volunteer with. I ate, I saw, I flew through the sky, I volunteered, I even found myself shedding tears at the beauty of it all and met some people I now call family. I can’t wait to go back. But it’s also debatable my heart never left.
