On my last day in Phnom Penh some years ago I met a youg architect who introduced me into the history of modern architecture in Camboja. What we experienced on our long trip throgh the city encouraged me to research nearly everything I could find about it - from the early fifties until the newest projects. Over a period of three years I researched overwhelming material and I wrote a story about the connection between architecture, history, and politics in this interesting country which tells development over the last fifty years. The story is showing that „state bulding“ and „city bulding“ is always connected to each other and that the traces of the past influence whatever we plan, create and realize in contemporary projects. (The whole story is in German, since I am German, living in Switzerland) (I may add another story about the history of Cabo Verde - colonialism, yellow fever, the development of modern telecommunication - and the source of this particular story was a single shipwreck you can find on the northern coastline of Bia Vista)
