Swimming with dolphins was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget. As I left these cold shores in March this year I embarked upon a journey with these wonderful mammals that I will never forget. I arrived at Ocean World to the laughter of children and sound the sound of Dolphins making their echolocation noises. It was an organised group swim and as I sat on the floating pontoon waiting for my turn I couldn’t help but feel a tad bit nervous, but this was a good nervous however. I could smell the salty water which looked so inviting with the sun rays reflecting off it. I watched these wonderful creatures interact with other members of the group and it was really wonderful to see the connection between man and dolphin. When the trainer beckoned me over for me turn I immersed my body into the water and the Dolphin swam over to me and I stroked it’s skin, it felt very rubbery and strange, after all it’s not every day that you get so close to one of these gorgeous creatures. The dolphin then swam forward with me holding on to the back of it, the rest of the group watched and giggled. I was then instructed to swim out and hold my arms up in the air; the dolphin then came up behind me and jumped right over my head to the applause of the group. I left the water feeling proud and incredibly fulfilled by what I’d just experience if not rather emotional. I then continued on to make the most of my day and ventured into the bird sanctuary to the sound of water splashing from the nearby waterfalls. I stumbled across a gorgeous parrot with multi coloured feathers so bright it almost had a psychedelic effect on me. Then I noticed a Toucan sitting there in the branches, beak as bright as the sunshine that was beaming down on my back. I then left and had a walk around and THEN I spotted him a gorgeous white Tiger lazing in the sunshine in the Tiger Grotto. The only thing separating us was a think pane of glass as I swam in the small pool in the Grotto, truly an amazing experience! I feel very privileged to of experienced swimming with Dolphins as it is most peoples dream to do so. I can completely see how it can help cure a human of depression and help terminally ill children. I absolutely love being at one with nature and the sounds of birds chirping and singing and I really appreciate what a wonderful world we live in that God created. One day I dream of swimming in the wild with Dolphins and I very much look forward to when that time comes. It was an experience I will remember with Forever
