This story is about me and the Mountains. I share an affair . The mountains make me fall for it again and again. This time it was unique. Let me tell you this romantic encounter with Chadar. An unique frozen river trek by the mountains in the extreme North of Ladakh Region in India. Mostly people are scared to visit this place during winter for its harsh weather which goes down to -30 degree Celsius. I started trekking this river with very minimum expectation of completing the same. Because people kept scaring me I can't and may so I did. The beautiful gorges and the sparkling water and then there was this frozen part of the river into a white ice sheet for which we called this Chadar locally. Trust me nothing else than paradise. The entire days trek wount matter when I rested my back in my sleeping tent and watched the clear sky with those beautiful stars. I never saw them in a while being from a concrete city .The very basic simplicity killed me and my unnecessary egos as a city life deweller. Coming back to Leh was good but the nights we spent in Chadar was most priceless affair I ever had. shhhh!
