Colorado Chronicles

I was seventeen when my Uncle John asked me if I wanted to join him on his trip to Colorado for two weeks and go hiking. It’s had been a while since I had done anything with my uncle so I happily agreed. He had about three to five hiking trails he wanted us to go on and that we would wake up early in the morning and head off on our eight hour drive. After the eight hour drive we set up camp across from the first trail we planned to hike. The hike was steep at first, but got a little flatter as we went up. There was snow, beautiful mountains, and something that looked to be a bear… from a distance. Turned out it was a marmot. Next morning we packed up and spent most of the day driving to our next camping spot. This time we actually were able to get to an actual campsite. While there was more people, my uncle and I for the most part had are own privacy except for a couple near us but bushes blocked them. Uncle John decided to say hi to them and we all talked a good portion of the night. This second hike was narrower and almost had us basically climbing a some points, but see the top was worth it. I saw beauties in the world that not a lot of people took the time see. Green grass, clean lakes and lots snow if you kept going— which we did and found another lake by abandoned structure. People were fishing, but not with polls. They were pulling fish out of the water with their bar hands. The told us how and that it might take a some doing something I get a hold of it. It took me one try, I picked up a fish with one hand on my first time doing it. They all started in shock before rolling over in laughter. It wasn’t until almost late afternoon that we got back to the campsite. My uncle went over to the couple from last night and just started telling them about the hike and how it was a must go. The couple actually really liked so they decided to try it out themselves the next day. Next day hits and my uncle and again start back to go to our next location when the couple comes back and boyfriend goes up to my uncle and says how he took him and his girlfriend up the trial and he proposed to her. We congratulated them and my uncle and him exchanged numbers. As soon as we reached our third hiking trail which was short and only about two miles up, we unpacked and set out. The trail was closed, but we said screw it and went. The hike itself wasn’t the most exciting thing. Towards the end of the hike, just as we’re about to make it back it begins to rain so we start running back when I notice I don’t have my phone! I immediately tell my uncle and start retracing my steps. I went up and down that mountain 4 times before I finally found it a little dirty, but not broken. I get back and my uncle gives me props and says I did it in could time to cause it had just gotten dark. Our final hike was the only hike we didn’t finish all they way due to rain and us starting to get tired. The strangest thing about that hike though was when we started going up when saw a man sitting on rock and at this time it was still a little early and not raining. Two hours later on our way down we see the same man, on the same rock, and it’s been two hours since we last saw him, he barley looks like he moved, and not mention it started raining. There’s thunder and lightning as well, but that doesn’t seem to bother this guy. He gives us a wave of his like before and we continue. My uncle says hopefully we won’t see him on the news later and we make back down the trail.
