Dare to leave your nest

A leap into the unknown Australia

Sometimes it's scary to take a jump into the unknown, to try your own wings for the first time. We prepare ourselves our whole life to be independent. To leave safety, our parents, our family home, your native language, your continent. I was 17 when I decided to take a step to try my wings. I took a job as a nursing assistant to earn money so I could buy a plane ticket after graduation. My first leap into the unknown. To adulthood. I got a job in Melbourne, Australia via Skype and bought a ticket and took of. A new continent, a new home, a new job, a new life. This is what I've been preparing for my whole life but yet it is scary. I don't know anyone in the land down under, I don't know if my work is real or a scam. I can tell you that my work was real, I got paid and I got a home. As a young adult I am social and got connected with several Facebook groups with other people in my situation, alone in a new country. We got together and went to different events together, discovered the city and the continent together. When I started I was alone but at the end of my journey I had a safety net. I knew the city, I understood a new culture, I got better at English, new friends but most importantly I got to try my own wings. I got more confident and comfortable in myself. Ive taken several more leaps to the unknown after Australia and I haven't regreted anything. So if you haven't already, you should too try your wings outside your nest because you'll gain so much more than you expect.
