A leap into the unknown Ukraine

A little girl from a little town in the middle of nowhere was sitting at home and staring at her desk. She was studying English during summer holidays instead of playing outside with her friends. They were so often making fun of her because of it. Their words were still echoing in her ears: “who needs English nowadays? Have you ever seen an Englishmen in your life? You are so poor that you have to sell bubble gums and stuff at the market to help your mom get food for you all, so how in the world are you planning to travel the world?”… 6-year-old didn’t have an answer to those questions, but she just kept on… That was one of her first and scariest leaps into the unknown… into the world of dreams… A little curious girl slowly turned into a quite shy teen-ager. Teachers adored her as she loved studying. Why did her classmates hate her so much then? Why did they play that stupid game pretending she was leprous, and nobody could touch her or anything that belonged to her? Why did they ridicule all her tries to look pretty and simply be like everyone else? Why did they ask her whether she ever looked at herself in the mirror and how could she have kept on living after what she had seen there? And somehow she believed them she was ugly and had no good reason to live in this world… It’s still a mystery how that young girl found the courage to take another leap into unknown and chose scary and not always fair adult life instead of the eternal darkness the others were pushing her into… The brave teenage girl slowly had to grow up and take responsibility for her future… She learned quite early about corruption, bribes and the fact that only rich children could have full scholarship… She didn’t get this free ticket into her dream world of science. She sincerely believed her mother’s words that she needed to study in the university anyway as otherwise she was good for nothing. Young lady took another leap of faith into unknow world of studenthood, fought all the way through against all the odds until she finally got that suma cum lade degree and no loans to pay back. That kind but little less naïve now young lady had to trust her guts again and jump into another unknown – a student “Work and Travel” trip to USA. Her? To USA? The one, who didn’t always have 2 cents for a bus ride to University or had to choose everyday between lunch and school supplies, that same one dared to convince her parents to borrow 2000 USD, ridiculously huge amount of money at that time, and trust her enough to send her away to another continent. Since that time the young woman kind of made “jumping into unknown” a profession of hers as she had to do it so many times over and over again…. She dared to continue her studies even after being kicked out of university as a punishment for her USA trip; despite being ridiculed and laughed at she came back from a country of dreams and opportunities to her poor home country to fulfil her mission to help less privileged ones; she dared not to accept the fact she was noone from nowhere and got a dream job in a huge multinational corporation; she challenged status quo and travelled solo half of the world; she proved it’s okay the other way around and bought a house and a car for her parents that worked hard all their lives but could never afford such a luxury; she chose to love and trust and dare no matter how many times she was being used, abused, abandoned or cheated on… And even when life lost its colors again and nothing was brining joy anymore, she made another crazy jump – quitted everything and got a one way ticket to another continent to explore the world, to get back up again and find the passion to tell everyone that it’s okay to dream, to dare, and to jump… even if it’s a jump into scary unknown.
