It was a rainy Sunday evening that I decided to pack my bags and go on the adventure of my life. Sometimes you have to take a chance, that is exactly what I did. You know that feeling of constant searching but you can never really find what you are looking for? Well... Exactly that situation I found myself in when I chose to dare to step out of my comfort zone and actually dare to venture and invest in life. The best we can do is to take a chance. 12 hours it took me to go to Bangkok and I can't really stop being admired by how we humans work, our religions and how incredibly different our living are. When I step out of the airport and as a blow to the face, you are greeted by the warm and sultry air, but in some strange way I love the feeling. This is where my adventure started for real. This is where I meet Pin Pin for the first time that will have a significant meaning in my story later on and a big impact in my life. The adventure starts and I sit in a kind where a typical yellow taxi with a buddha on the dashboard and loud Thai music and is heading towards Bangkok, Pin Pin deviates from the main road to refuel and I can't help but watch him the way he moves on, no shoes, and a broken sweater and worn pants but still so peaceful and harmonious in its way of being. I can't help but be admired. Pin Pin comes back and looks at me with his big black eyes and smiles at me and asks if my flight trip has been good and where to drive me to a hotel. I happily smile back and tell him I haven't booked a hotel and if he would like to drive me on my life's journey through Thailand's alley. He looked a little shocked and answered a little skeptically yes and asked where I wanted, so I smiled back and said that you have to decide. I saw something change in him, his eyes lit up more and I could feel that he was happy. On the way to destination unknown, we started talking more and more. Pin Pin told me that he was from a very poor family and that he lived driving tourists but something he liked very well. The hours flew by and we were now in Singburi, we went to a local market where there was everything from carpets to dogs for sale, a great contrast from what I'm used to but an increased sense of excitement and adventure lurks. I sat down at a local bar and gave Pin Pin money to go and buy something nice for him. I order a cola and remember how incredibly good that cola was. Sitting here at the bar, I couldn't help but be amazed by these people so kind and grateful for the little they have. After a few hours pin pin comes back and smiles warmly at me, showing that he bought food for us even though I clearly told him to buy something nice for him.. The food melted in my mouth and the flavors were so strong and good, I remember them so well. Satisfied and satisfied we walked back to the yellow taxi car and continued to travel this time towards Umphang. The trip there was going to be long, but on the way there it felt like these 24 hours just flew by. We laughed, we sang and we talked about life and how different but yet so equal we humans are. An interesting detail that Pin Pin repeatedly mentioned to me is that life is not about being rich in money, but about being rich in experiences and lessons learned. This is something that still has an impact on my life today and how I try to live my life. For the next 12 days, Pin Pin has made such a big impact and impression in my life that no one else in my 24 years previously made. Thank you Pin Pin.
