Dieng is a mountainous region located in Banjarnegara Regency and Wonosobo Regency. This area has been known since ancient times as a fertile area, with archaeological evidence in the form of the Arjuna Temple complex. This area is very rich in tourism potential, especially natural tourism. This area has many craters such as sikidang crater, candradimuka crater, and other craters and do not forget mountains such as Mount Prau and Mount Sikunir. I have visited Dieng several times, in fact I have never been bored even though I have visited it many times, especially Mount Prau. Mount Prau is one of the mountains in Central Java and even in Indonesia which has the most beautiful views of the Golden Sunrise, just like the logo on one of the brands of mineral water. Gunung Prau (Prahu) has an altitude of 2565 meters above sea level and has 4 hiking trails including Patak Banteng, Dieng Kulon, Kalilembu, and Wates. I've only tried two paths; Banteng Patak is famous as the shortest path that can be taken in only two hours with a steep path and Dieng Kulon with a path that is close to various other attractions such as the Arjuna Temple complex and Telaga Warna but long enough to get to the top. The temperature at the peak is quite bone-piercing, around 5-10 degrees Celsius at night. Furthermore, in Dieng there is the Arjuna Temple complex which is located adjacent to the Dieng Kulon hiking trail. This temple complex was discovered in 1814 by H.C. Cornelius who in his report said these temples were still submerged by water. It was only in 1856, J. Van Kinsbergen drained the water there and described it. This temple complex consists of Arjuna Temple as the main temple, Semar Temple, Srikandi Temple, Sembarda Temple, Puntadewa Temple. Not far from the Arjuna temple complex there is also the Gatotkaca temple complex namely Gatotkaca Temple as the remaining main temples namely Setyaki Temple, Nakula Temple, Sadewa Temple, Petruk Temple, Gareng Temple no longer intact. Actually there are many more temples that are around here, whether they have been found or not, which clearly gives a picture that the Dieng area during the Hindu-Buddhist era was an important area. Besides mountains and temples, Dieng is also famous for its craters such as Sikidang Crater, Candradimuka Crater, Sileri Crater. Not surprisingly the Dieng region is filled with craters because the Dieng Plateau is an active volcanic area. Volcanic lakes also beautify Dieng by displaying sulfur-mixed water such as Color Lake, Merdada Lake, and others. Myths and legends surrounding Dieng helped enrich this region. Hermitage caves such as the Semar Cave which is famous as the Eyang Semar Hermitage is said to have been used by President Soeharto as a place of meditation. Other caves such as Jaran Cave are also known as places of meditation for women who want to get pregnant. Dieng Sumur Cave which contains water which (it says) can eliminate all diseases. But of all that, the most famous story is the story of Village Lagetang, Village which was lost overnight due to a landslide from Mount Pengamun-amun. According to many stories, this is an almighty doom against Lagetang Village who often commits immorality. Now, in a buried place erected a memorial to commemorate the deaths of 332 people from the disaster. After walking around Dieng, don't forget to taste the local specialties here. The delicious ongklok noodles are made of starch, fresh carica (a type of papaya that only grows in the Dieng area), and the warm purwaceng is ready to accompany you during your tour in the cold Dieng. The affordable price range makes you not think twice about buying it. That is the Dieng Plateau, a panorama of Central Java tourism that is no less beautiful than existing tours abroad. A complete package that offers natural beauty, stories of the past, and community legends are the main menus for this region. So, don't delay anymore enjoying the beautiful panorama of Indonesia wrapped in the romanticism of the Hindu-Buddhist period only in Dieng!
