Making a local connection Brazil

Daughter of a miscegenated nation, I carry the mix of nationalities even in my name. I grew up hearing that I am the junction of miners and Bahians. That of these, are Portuguese with Indians and from there, this country is being formed. Whoever comes to Brazil, is usually curious to know the great São Paulo, one of the 20 largest cities in the world, or even the same as Rio de Janeiro, the city where it is one of the 7 wonders. However, as the roots of this country are found in the most hidden places. I grew up and live in São Paulo, a full and modern city, which often turns gray with the relentless pursuit of production. A real cog in the country. I had the opportunity to connect with my father's culture, for the first time, in the summer of 2016, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais in Capitólio. Living place, and very regionalist. It was me and my whole family. The most distant environments of the great productions of the country, is where its root is found. There, I came across a small and united population, very common that walking through the warm streets of the city, came across greetings - waves and screams - among the known, and even the unknown. Rooms with a simple and Gothic architecture, showing a lot about the history of the city, with low ports and without many locks, like someone who can be free in society and no longer need danger or danger. There was no trade if you didn't feel like you were in a real gold mine. Natural cheeses, dulce de leche, ambrosia and cheese bread. Everything known as the state's DNA can be found alive, in every corner. A city that visibly values its roots. There, you found a little bit of everything in Brazil: A large and well-known hydroelectric plant, which represents more than half of the energy produced in the country. A large river that surrounds the city, made out of a map, being able to move through points between it navigating. In the center, a church, with a huge square in front of it, where children and dogs could be seen playing. A great symbol of the country, which has always been based on its beliefs and faith. With a large, shiny cross, which was noticeable on all sides of the city. A typical, fragrant and spicy cuisine that made my mind travel in the affective memory of my grandmother's care. A pure and relieved air, the fauna and flora were there. On one of the days of this trip, we went to know the paths of the river by boat. A real sense of enchantment. Stone walls invading the river, the Furnas Canyon is formed. A real maze in nature. The boat sailed, and at each hidden corner, a waterfall was noticed, leaving water between the stones as when a small flower sprouts on the cement in the middle of the city. The representation of life. At that moment, I felt embraced and recognized. And who knew, I would feel the feeling of home, even though I was miles from home, in a city that was nothing like what I was used to. And that's when I realized, that the human connection is made by all parts, on that piece of land, there was a piece of my ancestry. The emotion was clear, I felt connected. And in my eyes, I noticed reflecting the green of those waters, the blue of that clean sky and the solar yellow. The great colors of the flag of my country. There, I was represented.
