I caught myself on the banks of Ganga fishing with the local community it's then that I realised to travel across the subcontinent . Reading and travelling are synonyms of the same thing called experience while traveling to Uttarakhand I had seen Ganga in many forms in Rishikesh it is said to have first come on flat plain in Haridwar it is prayed and people bathe themselves in the holy water . There is a local saying that taking a dip in the river washes all bad deeds. But the river has lost It's identity by washing the dirty there is no one to care about its misery . The gods land or Dev bhoomi as Uttrakhand is called had seen natural calamity like cloud bust , landslides , flood in recent past and has killed many. I belong to Varanasi , the oldest city in the world according to Hinduism . The city has produced philosophers , musicians and has often welcomed tourist who didn't wish to leave the city. We celebrate death on cremation grounds . If you die in Varanasi you attain Moksha or enlightenment. Few kilometres away from Varanasi is Sarnath a famous Buddhist spot , Buddha gave his first sermon to his five disciple here. The reason for Buddha choosing this place according to a Archeologist was that a lot of yogis came here to rest from Himalayas so it was easy to choose disciples here. Uttrakhand was once part of Uttarpradesh but was made into a new state because of its topography. Uttrakhand consisting of all hills like Massoorie is an abode of Ruskin bond , the father of the jugle book and several other books. He has noticed alot of changes on hills ,the change only being negative with pollution taking away the pride of the tourist spot. Here rivers and hills all ask for help. Enough of plastics polluting the beauty . The places just like humans need fresh air to breathe but what they get is air purifiers. They still look for someone to liberate them from all the toxins. Uttrakhand the home on Sundarlal bahuguna who is a environmentalist pioneer of Chipko movement saving trees from being fell by contractors who wished to make bats out of these trees. Devlopment has come at a expensive cost of nature. We wish to go back the same time where we lie on the roof gazing stars.
