Farm animal love 11,500 miles away

I won’t call myself a wanderlust, but a little world traveller for sure. I have been to some places yet, but hopefully I will add more to my list in the future. But for now I want to take you with me on my journey to New Zealand, 2018. First of all how this trip was planned is a very funny story. In 2015 I met this girl, Sarah, at summercamp in the USA. We became good friends and met every summer at camp till 2018 and over the year we met in places in the UK and the Netherlands. She decided not to come back as a camp counsellor in 2018 and decided to work and travel in New Zealand. She wanted to go for at least a year and we talked about it. I wanted to go, but just for a quick ‘visit’ because I still wanted to go back to camp. She left in February 2018 and would stay till the beginning of 2019. I was excited and booked my tickets to see her. I booked them literally the first week she was there. But her reply wasn’t what I expected it to be…. She was already on her way back to the UK. I felt kind of awkward because for a good minute I felt excited and now this. I’m good in travelling by myself but in the USA, because I’ve never been to New Zealand. I CAN’T DRIVE ON THE (for me) WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. Dear all please help me... After a short flight of 36 hours Sarah texted me and said: ‘’I will book my tickets too and we will travel together!’’ And that was all said and done. We booked our trip together this time instead of me visiting her. Still didn’t think the 36 hours of travelling through but it was going to be okay! In the end it wasn’t because I was sick and even made my brown little bag in the airplane broke because of the amount of…. ‘stuff’ in there. But that’s an whole other story. We finally arrived in Auckland and I was amazed by the weird security thing that happened at the airport. If you didn’t came from Australia or New Zealand you had to take off your shoes and clean them. Probably because of some virus, but still weird. The rest was nice. You hear horrible stories of boarding security but he was nice and wanted to talk about my LesMills certifications ( New Zealand is THE country for LesMills, only a fun fact when you know or like LesMills yourself). In those 10 days we did some amazing stuff. We had our own little van and drove in it and slept in it. At camp sides obviously. I have seen nature stuff I could only dream off. From the glow worm caves to the set of the Hobbit. It was all so surreal. One thing tho, they say it’s the country of many sheep, I have seen a few but it was definitely the country of the cows! And from this topic I want to tell you about my best experiences I have ever had in my life. I kind of have a farm animal addiction ( I’m a vegetarian so in a good way for sure) and especially goats and pigs make me loose my mind. You know the feeling when you see a puppy or kitten or something else you find adorable? Feel that feeling and imagine this. You are on the road and you see a sign on the road: pigs crossing (if you don’t like pigs like I do imagine it says puppies crossing or something). I couldn’t believe my eyes, but yes, on the road there where actually pigs crossing the road. Sarah had to pull over and I jumped out and started to hug some random pigs and beside all the beautiful nature, this was UNREAL!
