A city made out of marvel. Copenhagen is more than a bustling capital with an indecisive, moody weather. Whenever I get asked “How do you spend a perfect day in Copenhagen?” I have only one response to offer. Head out without a map in the hand and stroll down its cultural lines. You will stumble upon the most unexpected hidden gems which will awestruck you in ways you will never forget. Scattered with history and royal touch but on the same chapter its futuristic glance, transforming urban spaces into sustainable, colorful bike areas. Immensely remarkable by its reckless color scheme and bike appetite. Copenhagen is a divine ode to many years of evolution. Watching the Copenhagen life play in front of you is a momentous and an enjoyable sight. In Denmark it all revolves around “Hyggeligt” which is a Danish phrase translated as coziness, wellness or contentment. The city is steeped in this particular authenticity of each Copenhagener, expressing more than their physical appearance. From the one calmly paddling on his SUP through the canals up to his water level apartment to the ones who let themselves be washed in the golden glow commuting on their bikes through the city blast. Get to notice the tranquility of the ones sitting next to the window in a cozy street café, attentively and wholeheartedly giving themselves to the dialogue or the enamoured couple sharing a calm moment in front of the harbor next to the Copenhagen Opera House. This city has thought me about surrender, stopping and letting myself be part of this beautiful screenplay called life. The city endeavours to leave its trace on you with the narrow, old looking streets and a beautiful diversion behind each window around the corner. From the barber thoughtfully nurturing each movement to the pleasant expression of the baker patiently waiting for the outcome. But each and one of them proudly wearing Copenhagen's classiness and culture. It is not necessary to rush to the famous monuments to get a taste of its culture instead it is right here in front of you. A local connection through the extremely soothing feeling of standing next to Nyhavn, walking through colorful Nyboder or peacefully sitting in the one-on-one small sidewalk cafés and eateries. There is a theatrical collision of eras from the Viking scent to its most futuristic angles. You can take a glance into the free spirited Copenhagener through the street art corners and its thought-provoking content. If you allow yourself to be absorbed by only surrendering, each corner will never cease to amaze you. Franz Kafka once said "Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old" and I am utterly grateful for having started the beauty seeking adventure of my life in Copenhagen. Whenever I reminiscence through photographs I see more than a pixelated art form. I see a lively art form and a storytelling Copenhagen. I am always looking forward to meet again.
